What do I do? Should I stay or should I go?
“Am I in the wrong job, or even the wrong industry? I’ve felt stuck and unhappy for a long time now. I’ve been trying to sort it out myself, but I don’t know what to do about it. I can’t pinpoint the root cause of the problem, or what else might be a good fit. I don’t want to make the wrong choice and end up in the same situation elsewhere. But it’s really stressing me out and I want to know what to do next, so I can enjoy work again.“
This was the first time he had really taken the time to reconnect and reflect, reassess and consider the big picture since leaving Uni. It was a great relief to find out that it wasn’t the industry but the environment, plus aspects of the role that weren’t the best fit. And that a career change wasn’t necessary in order to be able to enjoy work again.
Outcome:
Moved from stuck, unhappy and directionless to having a strategy to improve aspects of current environment while following a longer-term plan of achieving better fitting role and environment/
The personality profiling work we did together really helped in better-understanding others and to optimise interactions, both at work and in life. We devised a short-term strategy for improving the problematic aspects of the current environment and a longer-term plan for identifying the best-fit role and environment in future.
